Lalbagh Flower Show Aug 2017

Twice every year the Horticulture department comes up with a unique and creative way to depict the nature, culture and heritage of our country with flowers. This time the highlight of the show was themed based on one of the most popular Kannada poet of all time, Rashtrakavi Kuvempu.
A tribute in flowers was offered to Kuvempu at the 205th Lalbagh Flower Show held from August 4 to 15, 2017.

The epicenter of the Glass house of Lalbagh was decorated with over 350,000 Dutch roses and carnation flowers to re-create Kuvempu’s house at Kuppalli in Shivamogga district.

Other main attractions inside the glass house were the replica of Jog falls and various colors and sizes of Dahlia. The water sprayer setup inside the glass house kept the flowers fresh and also made the mercury levels lower.

Many different kinds of flowers were also on display including varieties of Dahlia, Roses, Bigonia, Gerbera, Phlox and the list goes on. The event also showcased some of the floral art surrounding the glass house.

Parking facility was provided at the multilevel car parking of Shantinagar bus station. Entry charges on weekends and holidays was Rs.60 for adults.

Trip to the Misty Hills of Kudremukh: About Kudremukh: Kudremukh National Park is the second largest protected wildlife area in the Western Ghats (around 600 sq.kms). Lalbagh Flower Show 2012 - 100th Exhibition Event : January 20 till 29, all roads lead to the Glass House in Lalbagh Botanical Gardens. Around 10 lakh visitors are expected to visit the gardens and see a visual treat, thanks to the Mysore Horticultural Society. This flower show is the 100th exhibition of the Mysore Horticultural Society that was started by the then Superintendent of Lalbagh GH Krumbiegal in 1912. Major Attractions this time include Buddha Stupa, Floral dance forms, Floral Flow, Florance Flora Show and Diagonal floral Lines.
