The Hague city

The Hague city:

While Amsterdam is the capital of Netherlands, The Hague city is the seat of the Dutch government and parliament.
The city is comparatively less populated than Amsterdam, it has various buildings of significance including the Dutch ministries like Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, Ministry of Security and Justice, and Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

The most popular buildings of Den Haag are The Royal Palace of Huis ten Bosch, Vredespaleis or the Peace Palace and the Binnenhof, the modern buildings include the Dutch Ministries buildings, de kroon building, Muzentoren office building, Hoftoren, Zurichtoren or the Zurich tower, New Babylon Tower, and the Den Haag central.

Most of these buildings can be seen by walking down the streets from the Den Haag central to the Binnenhof.

The Helicon building is built in 1998 by Soeters Van Eldonk architecten.

The 88 m high Zurich tower was built in 1999 and is designed by Architects Cesar Pelli & Associates.

The 78 m high Muzentoren was built in 2000 and is designed by Rob Krier Christoph Kohl Architekten.

Hoftoren is another skyscraper with 29-storey and141.86 m high, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) Associates and built in 2003, it is home to Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of the Netherlands.

The New Babylon complex is a 141.44 m tall structure designed by Meyer en Van Schooten Architecten and was constructed in the year 2012.
The 77 m high Witte Anna tower is designed by Groep 5 Architecten and is constructed in 1987.

The New Den Haag Centraal station is designed by Benthem Crouwel Architects and has a roof made of glass plates placed in a framework of stainless steel. The central station is said to be completed in 2015. It has all three public transport facilities under the same roof, Train (including Metro and intercity and international trains), Tram and Buses.

The Wijnhavenkwartier complex:

The Wijnhavenkwartier complex consists of three tall structures, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Security and De Kroon.

The white building of Ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken or the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations is designed by Kollhoff und Timmermann Architekten and was completed in Dec 2012. It has a roof height of 143.70 m.

The red building of Ministerie van Justitie or the Ministry of Security and Justice is designed by Kollhoff und Timmermann Architekten and was completed in Dec 2012. This along with the Ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken are the tallest buildings of Hague. The building is 143.70 m in height.

The third in the row is the light brown colored De Kroon building constructed in 2011. It is 131.5 m tall with 41 floors and is designed by Rapp + Rapp architects.

Trip to the Misty Hills of Kudremukh: About Kudremukh: Kudremukh National Park is the second largest protected wildlife area in the Western Ghats (around 600 sq.kms). Three important rivers of Karnataka, the Tunga, Bhadra and Netravathi are said to have their origin in this area. Mist covered roads in Kudremukh All these can be reached within 80km. We first started with sringeri, which is famous for its Vidyashankara temple built in1342 AD. Reached Sringeri at 11am. There is a bridge Sri Vidya Teertha Setu across the Tunga river which connects from Vidyashankara temple to Sringeri Mutt. We had prasadam (lunch) at the mutt. There is one more temple called as Sharadamba temple which has lovely architecture built inside and photography is banned inside. Lalbagh Flower Show Jan-2012

Lalbagh Flower Show 2012 - 100th Exhibition Event :            January 20 till 29, all roads lead to the Glass House in Lalbagh Botanical Gardens. Around 10 lakh visitors are expected to visit the gardens and see a visual treat, thanks to the Mysore Horticultural Society. This flower show is the 100th exhibition of the Mysore Horticultural Society that was started by the then Superintendent of Lalbagh GH Krumbiegal in 1912. Major Attractions this time include Buddha Stupa, Floral dance forms, Floral Flow, Florance Flora Show and Diagonal floral Lines. Buddha Stupa Early Hours crowd at the Glass House GH Krumbiegal Visited the show on Sunday noon (22nd), on that day it recorded a whopping 100,000 visitors, making it difficult to capture the rich colors at the show. To avoid Mysore traffic, we tried to explore another route from Mandya through Somnathapura to Nanjangud, but it turned out to be more tiring and longer route.
